Nassau County Police announced the arrest of a 56-year-old man in connection with a harrowing assault on a 48-year-old woman on Long Island’s South Shore. The incident, which occurred in Rockville Centre, has left the community shaken.
The Incident:
According to detectives, the victim was arriving for work around 6 a.m. when she was ambushed by the assailant, Isaac Diaz Tollinchi.
Emerging from a concealed position within a garbage can, Tollinchi attempted to forcibly abduct the woman and drag her towards his vehicle.
Escape and Police Response:
Despite the attacker’s efforts, the victim managed to break free from his grasp, fleeing the scene to seek refuge and alert law enforcement. Tollinchi fled as well, evading immediate capture.
Authorities apprehended Tollinchi near the victim’s residence the following day. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with attempted kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment.
The motive behind the attack and the extent of his connection to the victim remain under investigation.
Legal Proceedings:
Tollinchi is expected to face arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead later on Friday. Details regarding legal representation for the accused have yet to be disclosed.
