British choreographer Grace Jabbari has filed a civil lawsuit in a New York federal court against actor Jonathan Majors.

The lawsuit, submitted on Tuesday, alleges that Jabbari was a victim of battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, malicious prosecution, and defamation by Majors.

Background of the Case

The lawsuit comes three months after a jury convicted Majors of attacking and harassing Ms. Jabbari. Majors could face up to a year in prison when he is sentenced in April.

Allegations in the Lawsuit

Court documents filed on Tuesday contain further allegations, with Jabbari claiming that Majors subjected her to a “pattern of pervasive domestic abuse” that began in 2021 and extended through 2023. The documents detail several alleged violent interactions, as well as verbal assaults and frightening displays of anger.

The lawsuit also asserts that in September 2022, Majors attacked Jabbari, causing serious injuries to her body. It further claims that Majors became furious when he learned that Jabbari had disclosed the physical abuse to a member of his management team in an attempt to seek help.

Response from Majors’ Lawyer

Priya Chaudhry, a lawyer representing Majors, stated that the lawsuit was “no surprise” and mentioned that Majors is preparing counterclaims against Jabbari.

Support for Jabbari

Jabbari’s lawyer, Brittany Henderson, commended the British actress for her bravery in holding someone with Majors’ level of power and acclaim accountable.

Impact on Majors’ Career

Following Majors’ criminal conviction in December, a spokesperson for Marvel announced that the studio would no longer work with the actor. Majors expressed shock at the jury’s verdict in an interview conducted in January.

Conclusion

The lawsuit filed by Grace Jabbari against Jonathan Majors adds a new dimension to the ongoing legal battle between the two individuals.

With allegations of domestic abuse and violent behavior, the case highlights the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions, regardless of their status or influence in society.
