United Airlines Flight 883, en route from London’s Heathrow Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport, was diverted to Maine due to the disruptive behavior of two intoxicated passengers.
The incident occurred on Friday, prompting the removal of the disruptive individuals in Bangor.
Passenger Removal:
Following the diversion, the 148 non-disruptive passengers continued their journey to Newark, while the two individuals responsible for the disturbance were removed from the flight in Bangor.
United Airlines has stated that these passengers will be banned from future United flights pending further review of the incident.
Law Enforcement Involvement:
Bangor police assisted Customs and Border Patrol and the FBI in handling the situation. While the FBI’s Boston office confirmed an investigation into the incident, there is no indication of any terrorism-related motives.
