Tragedy struck early Saturday morning in the Bronx as a high-speed collision claimed the lives of two young men.

The Collision:

Shortly after 4:15 a.m., a BMW, reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, ran a red light at the intersection of Jerome Avenue and East Fordham Road. 

Ignoring the traffic signal, the BMW collided with a Nissan Rogue, setting off a chain reaction of events. 

The impact sent both vehicles spinning, with the BMW ultimately crashing into a pillar supporting the elevated station for the No. 4 train.

Fatalities and Injuries:

Tragically, both occupants of the BMW, identified as a 23-year-old operator and his 21-year-old passenger, succumbed to their injuries at the scene. 

The collision’s severity highlights the inherent dangers of speeding and reckless driving. In contrast, the three women inside the Nissan Rogue were fortunate to survive, albeit with injuries. 

They were promptly transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital for medical treatment, where they were expected to recover.
