Mayor Eric Adams has expressed his support for Winnie Greco, a longtime adviser whose properties were raided by the FBI.

Greco, currently serving as the director of Asian affairs in Adams’s administration, has faced scrutiny as federal agents investigate individuals linked to the mayor’s administration.

FBI Raids and Investigations:

FBI agents searched two Bronx properties owned by Greco and the New World Mall in Flushing, Queens, where fundraisers for Adams’s mayoral campaign were held. Greco is one of several Adams aides targeted by federal agents.

Additionally, the mayor’s cell phones and an iPad have been seized in a separate federal probe examining potential campaign finance violations related to foreign contributions.

Mayor’s Response:

Adams has emphasized his administration’s cooperation with investigators and commitment to serving the city despite the ongoing inquiries. He stated that the investigations will proceed while he focuses on public safety and city improvements.

The mayor defended Greco, highlighting her long-standing partnership with him and her role as a liaison to the Asian American community. Adams expressed confidence in Greco’s integrity and leadership, stating that she remains on sick leave during the investigation.

Medical Episode during Raid:

During the raid, Greco experienced a “medical episode” that required medical attention. The mayor’s office stated that Greco would not perform any city duties until the investigation concluded.

The purpose of Thursday’s raid, overseen by the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn, has not been disclosed. Additionally, the Department of Investigation opened a probe into Greco’s conduct following reports of potential misuse of her position for personal gain.
